Folly Beach Eats

This family-run seafood market has been a must-stop shop for locals and visitors alike looking for fresh catches, fishing gear, and gourmet snacks for the beach.

Just before you reach Folly, when Folly Road bottlenecks from four lanes to two, swerve into the gravel lot of Crosby’s Fish & Shrimp Co. Venture up the wooden stairs to grab a bottled margarita or an artisanal King of Pops popsicle and admire the expansive view of Intracoastal marsh and sky. Since 1973, the Crosby family has docked their boats and unloaded fresh seafood here to service a steady stream of locals, many of whom show up with empty coolers to fill with littleneck clams, snowy grouper, vermilion snapper, live crabs, or the day’s odd catch. Shelves brim with local gourmet products (like sea salt, grits, heirloom rice, hot sauce, and smoked olive oil), and a fishing supply corner has all the hooks, bait, and nets you’ll need to reel in your own supper. Even if you have no intention of cooking during your stay on Folly, Crosby’s house crab dip and crunchy cheese straws are hard to resist.

Open daily, 6 a.m.-6 p.m. 2223 Folly Rd., (843) 795-4049, crosbysfishshrimp.com
