The Party: This third annual music-fueled bar crawl kicked off at Bay Street Biergarten with a crowning of the Krewe —king, queen, maidens, and dukes—decided by a random drawing of glitter-coated roses. Led by a brass band, including well-known trumpet player and Charleston native Cameron Handel, guests paraded up King Street to Republic Garden & Lounge, and then to the final stop, Prohibition, where they dined on buffet-style New Orleans cuisine including jambalaya and red beans and rice. Proceeds went towards purchasing instruments for eight exceptional students at the Allegro Charter School of Music.
Highlight: Marching up busy King Street behind a jazz band as onlookers stopped to snap pictures and videos of the colorful parade
Overheard: “Can we trade beads?”
