The Party: This year’s Spoleto Festival USA kicked off with it’s lively annual Opening Night Fete, following the Miami City Ballet's performance of Celebration: The Art of the Pas de Deux at the Gaillard Center. Held once again on Bedon's Alley for the first time in nearly 10 years (the site of the festival’s opening night from 1999-2009), the affair was nothing if not bright. The alley was decked out in punchy hues reminiscent of 1960s Miami, complete with giant flamingos and tropical adornments galore. The Live Exchange Party Band, provided by KLF Pro Entertainment, set the tone with a set of upbeat crowd-pleasers, drawing folks to the dance floor all night long. Amid numerous Charleston natives, a number of dancers fresh from the stage after their Miami City Ballet performance were in attendance, along with many of the festival’s other musicians and artists.
