Tomorrow, we’ll gorge on turkey and pumpkin pie, but after that? Well, let the shopping marathon begin! To check off your list as merrily (and quickly) as possible, plan to patronize these community events around town. From Black Friday blowouts on King Street to artisan markets and art exhibits, all are jolly opportunities to buy local.

You’ll find Black Friday deals galore on and around King Street—click here for a list of all the discounts and special offers at 37 retailers. On Friday, December 5, King Street Marketing Group hosts A Night in Wine Country: Taste, Shop, Stroll ($50). Then, on December 12, 80-plus retailers offer refreshments, trunk shows, promotions, and more during an evening Holiday Shop & Stroll ($21; $16 advance). A December 14th Second Sunday on King closes the street to car traffic from Calhoun to Queen, and the 18th is Men’s Shopping Night, with drinks and gift counseling making buying a breeze.
