The Bold & The Beautiful

Meet the Brazilian-born, NYC-based model, whose great moves brought our spring “Go Bold” fashion feature to life

Name: Katarina Scola
Age: 28
Lives: New York City
Born: Porto Alegre, Brazil
Reared: Caxias do Sul, Brazil

On her start as a model:
A friend of mine asked me to accompany her to an interview for the Ford Models contest. Once we got there, the scout asked me to participate as well. I didn’t want to pursue this career but thought it would be fun to see what would happen. I ended up winning the contest and from there I was sent to Paris for Fashion Week.

If not modeling, what else would you pursue?
When I was a kid, my dream was to become a doctor, a pediatrician to be more exact. However, I later developed a strong passion for nutrition, which led me back to school to pursue a degree in nutrition and food sciences.

What do you love most about modeling?
I love traveling all around the world, working with lots of interesting people while shooting beautiful pictures.

What are your career goals?
I have had the privilege to work with a lot of talented people who have inspired me to combine my interest in nutrition with the experience I have acquired with the cameras during my modeling career. Therefore, my ultimate goal is to develop a TV show that will help people to achieve optimum health and wellness.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Whenever I have free time, I am usually studying, but I also love to exercise... so I hit up a yoga, Pilates, Muay Thai, or indoor cycling class. I also enjoy going to the movies and trying new restaurants.

Three words to describe your time on this Charleston fashion shoot:
Fun. Dynamic. Inspiring.

Your movements in this shoot were so expressive and playful. What inspired that?
The energy in the studio that day was awesome! Each member of our team suggested ideas, and our story just flourished from there.

What was your favorite part of the shoot?
Getting to wear those amazing outfits!

You were only in Charleston for one night. If you could come back, is there a particular part of the city you’d want to explore?
I would love to come back and walk around the downtown area, do some shopping, and try some of your great restaurants!
