The artist who emblazoned Central Park with fiery saffron gates and made a canvas of Biscayne Bay arrives in Charleston this month. While he isn’t coming to swath the Ravenel Bridge in colored cloth, Christo will revisit five decades of environmental works created with wife Jeanne-Claude, who passed away last fall. He will also share plans for completing two installations—Over the River and The Mastaba—in her memory. The pair’s art exists as much in the creative process as in the outcome, living on through documentation and dialogue. Accordingly, Christo’s slide presentation prefaces an interactive discussion followed by a book signing.
