Country Chic
White’s Mercantile, the impeccably chic retail phenomenon from Nashville singer-songwriter Holly Williams, opened on King Street last month. Though the fashion-savvy songstress comes from country music royalty—her grandfather is Hank Williams Sr.—Holly’s maternal grandparents, June and Warren White’s family-owned mercantile shop inspired her vision for a “general store for the modern-day tastemaker.” The eclectic boutique offers everything from stylish apparel to an extensive apothecary section to custom candle collaborations—all with the GOOP seal of approval from her pal Gwyneth Paltrow. A longtime fan of Charleston, Williams chose the Holy City for her brand’s fifth outpost, saying, ”I now have an excuse to be here whenever I want!” [322 King St., whitesmercantile.com]
Work it
After running two wildly successful pop-ups, fitness guru Sarah Frick’s unique ”Sweat Studio” finds solid ground at The Guild. Look for The Works’ trademark session—a dynamic blend of powerful vinyasa yoga, breath work, plyometrics, and core strength training—along with high-energy HIIT and meditative stretch classes when the space opens this month. Well-Groomed
Pre-ceremony jitters are a thing of the past at Kacie Faulling’s two new wedding prep spaces. Her bridal salon, Lashes and Lace, moved downtown in February, offering a chic rental studio for brides and their tribes to get ready to walk down the aisle. Complete with TVs, game systems, pool, shuffleboard, air hockey, and a poker table, this private bar promises to keep the troops entertained before it’s time to say “I do.”
The New Manicure
After selling its handmade sugar scrubs primarily at the Charleston City Market, all-natural skincare fave Hunter Brookes now has a brick-and-mortar location in North Charleston. Owner Chandler Gongloff began experimenting with homemade products to improve her skin condition more than 20 years ago; and her company, now in its fifth year, keeps her initial promise to make ”the most natural, effective and affordable products to treat skin problems.” [4490-A Summey St., North Charleston]
