You haven’t been fully initiated unless you’ve danced into the wee hours at this dive bar with a regular lineup of motorcycles out front and a single doorway propped ajar. Poke your head into the dark paneled interior, fill out the note-card membership application, and pay your dollar in dues (don’t be nervous; they’ll approve you on the spot). The perks are immediate: cheap beer, darts, pool tables, and a respite from the blazing heat. The club regularly books live acts, from beach music to classic rock to Motown. On weekends, the back bar becomes an impromptu dance floor where you boogie, shimmy, and shag alongside hippie chicks, good ol’ boys, and 80-year-old rebels. Return the next day to pick up your membership card. It’ll bring a smile to your face for months to come.

Open daily, noon-2 a.m.; happy hour, 4-8 p.m. 7 Center St., (843) 588-9498
