Materials
Directions Measure paper to size of vase and cut to fit. Draw your own design (on plain paper) or download one from Internet clip art, then print. Use tape to adhere design template to black paper or vellum. Trace around image with an X-acto knife, cutting through the printed template to the paper or vellum. Remove template and retrace lines to make sure the cut is clean. Apply spray adhesive to the back of the paper or vellum, then wrap around vase. Center candle in vase and secure with the rocks.
Materials
For the ghosts:
Directions Begin by making a thick bed of moss and leaves on the bottom of the vase (the twigs will weigh it down once they are added). Make tombstones by using chalk to inscribe a few black rocks. Position them on top of the leaves. Add a skeletal hand or other spooky details. Fashion ghosts by cutting a small circle of fabric and gathering it around the head of a pin (to form the ghost’s head). Tie with raffia. To attach ghosts to twigs, insert the end of the pin into the wood at random places to create a floating effect. Place sticks in vase and arrange.
Materials (per spider)
Directions To make the spider’s head, cut out a piece of fabric that measures 5" x 5". Wrap it around the lollipop and secure with a rubber band. Cut off any excess material. For the body, cut two squares of fabric that each measure 7" x 7". Cut a slit into the middle of the first square, just big enough to fit the lollipop stick. Fill the first square with jelly beans and tie the corners into a knot to close the bag. Flip so the knotted side faces down into the middle of the second square. Insert lollipop stick into the slit you made in the first square. Gather second square of fabric around jelly bean bag and secure to lollipop stick with a rubber band. Cut off excess material. Begin attaching pipe cleaners by looping one end over the rubber bands (between spider’s head and body). Alternate sides each time you add a pipe cleaner so that legs line up evenly. Bend tips of pipe cleaners to look like feet.
