Style Q&A Harper Poe
January 2018

The founder of Proud Mary—creating clothing, accessories, and home goods with global artisans since 2008—recently launched a line of knits

Q What’s the scoop on your knitwear?
A
We wanted to offer something cozy for cool weather, so I found a company in Bolivia that works with hundreds of artisans, mostly using locally sourced alpaca. The owner and I clicked, and we collaborated with them on the knitwear collection that launched this fall.

Q Who are three makers we should know about?
A
Beklina makes really accessible, really cool clothing and shoes. Happy Tapis’s Etsy shop has a great selection of Moroccan rugs, and Chabi Chic Morocco [whose ceramic bowls are above] has the best gifts and items for the home.

Q Is there a cosmetic product you can’t live without?
A
I’m a child of the ’90s in that I plucked my eyebrows to death. Glossier Boy Brow is a lifesaver!

Q What’s your favorite yoga gear?
A
I love my Outdoor Voices leggings. They are super comfy and hold you in everywhere!

Q How would you describe your interior decor aesthetic?
A
I like simple, but I’ve collected a lot of pieces while traveling, so we’ll call it ”ethnic-modern.” I get inspiration from interior designer Angie Hranowsky’s Instagram and enjoy following Viveca Palma [above] in Mallorca, Spain.

Q What else is new for Proud Mary?
A
We have some amazing styles of our raffia shoes launching in early spring. And I’m contemplating opening a natural fibers shop within our online store—I’d love to curate a collection of baskets, raffia jewelry, rattan accessories, and more. But that’s still TBD.
